“MAN V. FOOD” COMES TO CHOMPIE’S, EPISODE SET TO AIR JULY 14

Travel Channel Host Adam Richman takes on Chompie’s “Ultimate Slider Challenge”

(Phoenix) Adam Richman, the popular host of Travel Channel’s Man v. Food, takes on the “Ultimate Slider Challenge” at Chompie’s, Arizona’s New York Deli, in an episode set to air in Phoenix on Wednesday, July 14th at 9 p.m.

Richman, the affable host of Man v. Food, came to Tempe in mid-March in an attempt to add the Chompie’s Ultimate Slider Challenge to his long list of culinary victories. He faced a five-pound platter of twelve “Jewish Sliders” (mini-challah rolls filled with lean beef brisket, jack cheese and a potato pancake) and a mountain of onion strings, which he had to finish in thirty minutes or less.

Viewers will be the first to learn how Richman fared, as the results have been kept secret since the March taping. If successful, Richman’s picture will be added to Chompie’s “Wall of Fame,” alongside Phoenix’s Ron Sirard, the first person to beat the challenge.

Neal Borenstein, whose family owns and operates Chompie’s, said it’s been fun keeping the results a secret. “The only thing I’ve told anyone is what a great guy Adam is,” said Borenstein. “When people ask how he did, I just tell them they’ll have to watch the Travel Channel when the Chompie’s episode airs on July 14th.”

To celebrate the Travel Channel’s premiere broadcast of the Chompie’s Man v. Food episode, Chompie’s will offer their Jewish Sliders, regularly $3.99, for just $.99 each on July 14th from 10:30 a.m. until closing at all four Chompie’s locations.

Man v. Food airs locally Wednesday evenings at 9 p.m. Check your local TV service provider listings for exact times. This airing is subject to change, so check www.travelchannel.com prior to the air date to confirm.

Visit any Chompie’s: 9301 E. Shea Blvd. (Scottsdale), 1160 E. University (Tempe), Paradise Valley Mall (Phoenix), and now open at Chandler Village Center, 3481 W. Frye Road, just south of Chandler Fashion Mall.

Chompie’s, a family owned and operated N.Y. style delicatessen, restaurant, bagel factory, bakery, and caterer, has served the Valley since 1979 with mouthwatering breakfast-all-day, lunch, and dinner 7-days a week. Chompie’s is the winner of the azcentral.com 2010 “Readers Choice: Best Family Owned Restaurant” award. As always, get an “Eggciting” breakfast free on your birthday! For more information, visit www.chompies.com.

Take on Chompie’s AZ Ultimate Slider Challenge! Much in the style of the food eating contests on Adam Richman’s Man v. Food Show on The Travel Channel, finish 5 lbs. of 12 Jewish sliders and onion strings by yourself in 30 minutes or less and you’ll get: serious victor bragging rights, your photo on Chompie’s website Wall of Fame, and the meal free!
